My ipod has always been connected to my mac, now when i try it on my linux box, with amarok it says the file system is read only, and i cant see any files or transfer files to it. is this because my ipod was originally formatted to the mac file system instead of the windows system?

This is probably due to your filesystem on your ipod not being unmounted correctly. The only way I found to fix it was to connect it again to an OS X machine.
In order to prevent such problems in the future, you always should make sure that your ipod does not display 'Do not disconnect' when disconnecting. |

I fixed it with this
solution! Fire up your mac, plug in your ipod and follow this diskutil disableJournal /dev/diskXs3 where /dev/diskXs3 is the device assigned to the iPod. The "diskutil list" command shows you which device it in OS X the iPod is using. In my case, it was /dev/disk1s3. this fixed it! |
