Poor CUE support

Fri Mar 21, 2008 5:00 pm
Just now, Amarok 1.4 has poor CUE sheet support. I can't  use "next" and "previous song" buttons. I can't choose the one song of whole 2 hour MP3 in the collection and mark it with stars. The 1 or 2 hour MP3 + CUE are standard in electronic dance music (radio shows). Current support for these files in Amarok is not enough. Please look at foobar2000. It handles these files much much better.

Do you plan to redesign MP3+CUE support in Amarok 2? Thanks.

You can use mp3splt (http://mp3splt.sourceforge.net/mp3splt_page/home.php) to split the hour long mp3 into tracks without reencoding them.  There's really no sense in keeping them as one big file.  It offers no benefit, you can burn a CD from multiple tracks with the proper cue file just as well as you can from one long track.

It doesn't work correctly as far as there is no good gapless mp3 player. I used mp3splt but it is far from perfect solution.

It would be great if MP3 + CUE would be some kind of virtual directory: somethink like a TAR archive containing splitted MP3s.
