Is there a way to have only one amarok instance for all? It opens a new amarok every time I select a new music file from my desktop. I want only one window of amarok around.

There should only ever be one instance of Amarok running at the same time.
Something is probably wrong with how your system calls Amarok. "amarok" checks if there is only one instance running and then calls "amarokapp".
Maybe that helps you investigate a little more.
