Scrolling artist info

Fri Jun 20, 2008 7:29 pm
New to amarok, really enjoy the program a lot.  Just one quick question, I haven't been able to find the option to scroll the song information.  IE: Hear a great song streaming, go to find out who it is -don't know the artist, don't know the song or info -  any ideas?

Just press Win-O to make the On Screen Display show.

Thanks for the shortcut info, I was wondering that within that window that pops up how I can get information other than the ip address of the webstream.  If I go to last.fm and select say heavy rock, then get a good stream going, but a song comes on I would like to know who the artist is, say scrolling in the Win-0 window who is playing and what album the song is from.  Is that possible?

It depends on the stream - some do provide track details, others don't. Last.fm streams should show you track info, unless that got broken by the API change...

0 does not equal O.

Works fine for me in 1.4 with last.fm streams.

I was using the Amarok that came with suse 11.0.
Now I'm using 1.4.9.1... taglib is 1.5-33.1 (64bit) also if that is helpful information

In both versions of Amarok, I am experiencing this same problem:
Streams are completely blank for Title, Artist, Year, Album, etc..  All I get is the stream URL.  The thing is, all of these 'blank' streams do provide all of that information when played in winamp(windows).  I very recently just moved to linux, and I hope that wine or a virtual desk just to get this stream functionality isn't my only option.  Ripping and getting files for each song labeled as such, versus one long single rip file with no title..   :(

Maybe it's just something simple I'm overlooking due to my limited knowledge on this platform.

An example is M1 Live, here is a link to every stream format they supply(all of which return blank song info for me)

ToddIsBored:

Well it is working here. In 1.4.9 and in current SVN (which will become 2.0 some day) with your stream.s But I also have no idea how to help you with that.

That's weird then.  Must be something I'm missing on my end then.  I've hardly touched any options.

I installed opensuse 11, ran amarok with that stream and noticed the issue of no stream data for the tracks.
So I went and downloaded from repository that bumped me up to 1.4.9.

Thats where I still am now.
