In amarok1 I can choose different alsa output devices for stereo, 4.0, 5.1 etc. I use this to upmix 2.0 stereo to 5.1, while sending 5.1 sound unmodified to my speakers.

Can I do this in amarok2/phonon?

Check the KDE systemsettings -> Sound

Basically this means that I cannot send music to my hifi system via usb dac and listen to other sounds via another pair of lesser loudspeakers at the same time, or at different times without switching...
Is there some sort of workaround available?
