Memory bloat

Sat Dec 13, 2008 5:53 pm
Is 2.0 any better with memory? Before I upgrade, I'm curious.

1.4.9.1 consistently bloats to several hundred MB after only a day or two. I have my collection stored in MySQL, so I have no idea what amarok is using all the RAM for. My collection is roughly 25k files.

No, Amarok 2 uses about twice as much memory as Amarok 1 does. That's why we called it 2.

Typically, it should run fine on a system with 8GB RAM.

Seems like our all father figure Mark forgot the wink ;)

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Worse than no answer in my opinion.

I think shifted will just have to load up the new version and see for himself.  Don't mention any negative results though, folks will just scoff at your methodology.
