I have a Cowon D2 and I have not been able to get it to synch up with amarok.
What I was wondering if there was away to be able to plug my cowon D2 in and point amarok to it and say, "Hey! this is a media player Amarok, this is the type, or this is what types it can handle".

If not then I would suggest something like this to be good to have for those media players that are file system based.

I love amarok, and if some wants to implement this then I would be willing to test it out, but I don't have programming experience.

In Amarok 1.4 it can be done from the settings menu (Media Devices).

In Amarok 2 it cannot be done, but we hope to bring this feature back at some point.
