Before I buy it, I'd like to know if Amarok 1.4 supports the newest ipod(s). Also, does it support the iPod Touch & iPhone? I know there is a 2.02 and higher, I didn't like it so I downgraded, I'm MUCH prefering 1.4, so if you know if THAT version support the new stuff, or if there is a patch for support, I'd like to know, thanks.
Thanks a million for the info. -Alex. |

Alex,
I was able to get the iPod Classic 120gb black working in Amarok 1.4 very easily. I'm not quite sure if the order I configured it in was correct, but here's the steps I took: 1.) Connected & mounted the iPod--I was very pleased to see it came with a full charge out of the box. 2.) Configured a new iPod in Amarok by pointing to the mount point. 3.) Connected to the iPod, was prompted to initialize the database, chose yes. 4.) Performed a dmesg & searched for the iPod. You will see a line like: usb 1-5: New USB device found, idVendor=05ac, idProduct=1261 usb 1-5: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 usb 1-5: Product: iPod usb 1-5: Manufacturer: Apple Inc. usb 1-5: SerialNumber: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 5.) Open the file /media/ipod/iPod_Control/Device/Sysinfo. Add the following line (without the quotes, obviously): FirewireGuid: 0xXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 6.) Your final file should also have a model # (in my case, ModelNumStr: xB565). 7.) Save the file, re-connect your iPod in Amarok. This got me up & running, dunno if it'll help you! -corte |
