I would like the possibility to not only rate a song, but to rate a complete album.
Maybe the raing of an album could be generated from the average rating of the songs in the album.

That is an interesting idea!

Adding just an average album rating that could be shown in a playlist layout should not be too hard, but actually integrating it so you can search by it would require a bit more work.
