I am using Amarok-2.2-rc1. I have two collection folders, one on a local ext3-disk, the other on a samba share. As soon as I enable "Watch folders for changes" in the collection settings, Amarok rescans my collections, and starts over again some minutes after it has finished, even if nothing on the file system has changed.

This could be because of Samba not supporting mtime correctly, so you might have to disable "Watch folders".
