Where can I find a tarball for Amarok 1.4.x that will be usable on KDE 4.3.2 on Kubuntu Karmic?
I have been googling for hours and cannot find a tarball for 1.4, only for 2.x. |

That's because we do not provide any 1.4 tarballs anymore, development of 1.4.x has been stopped quite some time ago.
Lisi, I read your mail on the kubuntu-users list and here is my proposition: Try out Amarok 2.2.1 from the kubuntu backports PPA as described here: http://www.kubuntu.org/news/amarok-2.2.1 There has been a tremendous amount of bugfixes fixing various crashes since version 2.2.0. Else please ask in the #amarok channel on irc.freenode.net, if necessary ping me there.

FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

If you google you can find some private repos that are being maintained with semi-usable Amarok 1.4.10 builds .... I'm using one right now .... Wiki and Cover art don't work because their API's have changed since 1.4 was last maintained but overalll it works well with KARMA .... to bad 2.2 doesn't

Rubbish, Amarok 2.2.1 works perfectly well on Kubuntu 9.10, I use it every day here. Don't make allegations you can't even prove.
