For me, 2.2.2 has made all the difference. I found 2.2.0, the version that ships with Kubuntu 9.10 to be fairly buggy but Amarok 2.2.2 has solved those problems.

I got it from the ppa/ppa place:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/ppa/ubuntu karmic main

but don't use the backports right now unless you want trouble!
