What portable players does Amarok work best with?

After some decidedly shaky experiences with a Creative Zen Mosaic (MTP based) mp3 player, I'm in the market... for something that works great with Amarok!

I want to be able to give the prehistoric Gnomad2 the flick and get something that works silky smooth with everyone's favourite music app. Ogg / FLAC support would be awesome too.

Any suggestions? What are the dev's using? Thanks!

Please split your post, that topic doesn't belong in this section.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Thanks Mark.

How is the support for the clip in Amarok?

I ask because I see on your blog it's an MTP device. That makes me a bit nervous because the whole reason I'm looking for a new device is because my wife's (MTP based) player seems to be visible only about 1/2 the time in Amarok. We'd rather switch hardware than switching Amarok, but I wanted to make sure that support was relatively stable.

Thanks again!

Kubuntiac, I'm surmising from your nick that you also use Kubuntu. There is a bug in how Kubuntu handles USB. I'm not sure it makes a diff whether or not the device is MTP or not; the chancy bit is USB.

It seems sheer chance whether or not my device is detected too, both by the Kubuntu device handler and Amarok. I'm not blaming Amarok for that, however.

Yep, the buggy part is USB auto-mounting (possibly a problem with UDev). The more devices you attach, the worse it gets (e.g. with USB hub).

It's annoying as hell, and I wish they could fix it...
