Number of albums displayed in albums widget

Is there any way to increase the number of albums displayed in the albums widget? 5 seems a bit on the low side

OpenSuse Leap 42.1 x64, Plasma 5.x

I suppose you mean the list of recently added albums? The exact number of items to show can be subjective, so perhaps making it configurable would be best.
