Every once and a while my Local collection will disappear. It will drop from ~4000 tracks to 100. If i scan my folder again (not update, ReScan entirely) i will be back to my original number of tracks.

My collection is found on another drive which never seems to have issues being mounted.

Any idea why this happens?

what is that for a drive?

I assume that when you say: "never seems to have issues being mounted" that means that there are times when it's unmounted while amarok is running and you have activated "watch folders" for the collection, am I right?
