How of you remember what that is like! Anyway, occasionally when I start amarok and hit play the song is playing at like 1.5 times normal speed. very choppy also. Any one else have a similar problem?

new install or upgrade? did it used to work fine?

version of Amarok? if not 2.4.1 please upgrade

phonon backend used? try a different one - there are 3 variants: vlc, xine and gstreamer (you may need to dl the package(s) if not already installed)

songs are mp3s?
