As others posted, problem with song playing then stop before next track. Using a new install of Kubuntu 11.04, Amarok 2.4.0, KDE 4.6.2, multimedia backend: phonon-gstreamer.
Most music is on a server using mt-daapd (Firefly) to stream it. Local music seems to play OK, but I only have a few test tracks local, so I don't really know. Amarok was rescanning constantly, so I turned this off (Firefly scans the server anyway). This didn't work. I must manually focus on Amarok and hit the Space key to force the next track to start. The Amarok data-base is the internal one (not mysql). Restarting, doesn't help. My library is not very big (about 800 songs), and the system is new so I haven't tried re-installing, wiping config etc. and the machine is a fast one. We run lots of different music players and systems in the house, and Amarok is the only one having this issue. Too bad, I like it the best otherwise. Any ideas? Regards, feffer

Try installing phonon-backend-vlc and switching to that in the Phonon settings.
It may also be an idea to update your Amarok and KDE, as those are a little out of date now; https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+archive/ppa and https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+archive/backports have KDE and Amarok updates respectively (you should add both). |

Hi feffer, sorry to hear you are having problems. I think you can solve most of them by upgrading to the latest, which is 2.4.1. http://amarok.kde.org/en/releases/2.4.1 for more information about how to do that.
By the way, the internal database is MySql as well. Also, you might try the phonon-vlc backend and see if that works better for you. Both are recommended. |

thx, installed phonon-backend-vlc, switched to it, restarted Amarok. Then started a long playlist, had dinner, watched the NBA finals, and Amarok is still playing...so I guess it is fixed!
