Amarok player slow down

Sat Aug 06, 2011 9:00 pm
Dear ladies and gentleman,

I have a small problem :)

I have to transcribe something and it is pretty tough, because the folks are speaking pretty quickly.

Does anybody have an idea as to how to slow down Amarok, in order to be able to transcribe quicklier?

Thank you very much indeed in advance.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

I wonder if amarok is the right tool for the job. You could try vlc which will let you control it through a GUI, but my favorite solution would be mplayer. The following keyboard shortcuts (from its man page) may be of interest to you:

Code: Select all
LEFT and RIGHT   Seek backward/forward 10 seconds.
[ and ]          Decrease/increase current playback speed by 10%.
{ and }          Halve/double current playback speed.
BACKSPACE        Reset playback speed to normal.
p / SPACE        Pause (pressing again unpauses).

you could try a sound editor like kwave or audacity which should allow you to both slow down and clean up the recording
