m3u8 playlists for amarok

Fri Aug 19, 2011 1:57 pm
Is there a way to get Amarok to generate an m3u8 playlist rather than an m3u playlist? I'm trying to use an Amarok-generated playlist externally, and some of the track titles have umlauts. The result is that they don't get recognized correctly if I use the m3u format.

Isn't m3u8 just a different extension to signify an m3u playlist uses UTF8 encoding? The m3u files Amarok generates are UTF8 encoded, so change the extension if other programs are expecting it.

Renaming seems to work

I've tried renaming my playlists from m3u to m3u8, and so far that seems to solve the problem, and all the items on the playlist actually play. Thanks for the pointer.
