Not seeing playlists on MP3 player

Tue Sep 27, 2011 4:03 am
Hello All,

I may be showing off my ignorance so please be patient.

I am running Amarok 2.4.0, KDE 4.6.2, on Kubuntu 11.04.
My mp3 player is an Archos 504.

I am trying to use Amarok to manage it, but I seem to be having a little trouble.

When I connect as a "Windows Media Device" Amarok sees it and all the songs, but it does not see the playlists.

Why is that? Can it be easily fixed?

Thanks,

Craigbert

Hi Craigbert

Do you happen to know if your player is using the MTP protocol or does it act as a generic USB mass storage device?

MTP should support user playlists, but of course all sorts of things can go wrong.

http://www.archos.com/support/download/ ... -_v2.2.pdf seems to suggest it can support both. I guess you are using the MTP mode and as far as I know playlists should show up in amarok. The code is less then stellar quality though and I'm quite reluctant to dive into it, I would rather finish my reimplementation of the USB mass storage collection so you can use that.
