I have built amarok-1.1CVS and it seems to have trouble with utf8 filenames (default in suse-9.1) having national characters. It shows them wrong in the playlist and it is unable to load them.

I\'m using 1.2-beta2 on gentoo Linux.
I\'ve also some Unicode encoded file(name)s. They don\'t even appear in the file browser.
In the context based browser, they are displayed correctly, but when I drag and drop such a file to the playlist, it simply disappear... :y32b4:

I\'ve ripped all my files with utf-8. None of them appear in amarok. I\' very very **** off. Amarok is such a cool program with such heavy bugs. Like a rose with too sharp thorns.
Please fix this in the final 1.2 release. At the moment, I\'m forced to use xmms (*vomit*).

What version of taglib are you all using?

I use taglib 1.3.1 on gentoo. It\'s a standard dependency of amarok.

I\'m using debian unstable and use UTF-8 for filenames and ID3 tags. I use the following packages and versions:

libtag1 1.3.1-1
libtag1-dev 1.3.1-1
libtagcoll0 0.99.1-1
amarok 1.2-beta2+cvs20041216-1

I can view UTF-8 filenames in amarok (and the rest of kde, console etc) no problems, my problem lies with the UTF-8 i3d tags, which display as random characters. I can verify they are correct, id3vs -l *.mp3 displays them clearly, if you redirect the output of that to a tmp file then run file on it it correctly identifies it as unicode text. The bleep media player also displays them perfectly so i\'m a bit confused.
