hi,
amarok is getting better and better - the best player existing! but the context browser really looked better without this gradient - how about choosing it optionally? |
|
I support that, because it's very uncomfortable with dark background, and does not adapt to the color of the text (gradient keeps fading to white with white fonts it the foreground). The simplest is to let the user choose the bacground for the context browser (image or color)

mmm, the gradient is a nice idea but perhaps it could be implemented better..
im not sure how but id have to agree with the above. it kind of clashes with the boxes displaying the info. this is really just on the dark background though. looks nice with the normal kde theme! maybe thats it - just have it on the kde theme |

You are right - it looks MUCH better without gradient. Simply delete file context_gradient.png from /usr/share/apps/amarok/images (path from Debian) and re-run program - context browser will look great as usual.

the possibility to remove it if you don't want it.
i like also the gradient |

not really - the background of the context browser is just grey now and won't change like the colour of the playlist... |

Hi
first, thanks for this great app...i like it very much I found the gradient very nice, if you're using it with the default kde theme....but it's true that there are some problems with the amarok color theme. I just saw it was a png file, but i-ve read some code in kickpim using qt primitive to draw gradients....you could pick the current kde color theme and draw it with the qt lib. An other point is that, with the xine engine and the gradient (didn't try other engine), the music freezes when i'm moving the cursor on the side bar. I don't know why....but maybe using directly qt would solve the problem Keep coding bye |

I doubt freezes while seeking in a song has anything to do with the gradient. Unless you have some way of testing without the gradient. I've noticed some problems seeking in songs, if I find some consistent behavior I'll write a bug report. |

It doesnt bother me personaly since i use standard kde theme in amarok(Plastik colors ).
How about making it optional in the settings? In a long run, i would like to see a whole section under amarok settings dedicated to context browser. It would be nice if we could select the background image(with a popup kde file open dialog) or specify a color(optional, it should use the selected themes color as default). Also, another suggestion i saw here the other day was about arranging the albums shown for that artist, there should be a select box or something wich would allow choosing the order like Year or alphabet. Overall, This app rocks! |

i like the cound of the qt drawing idea. i think the main prob is that it just makes it look a bit clunky so if the gradient blended in better it may look nicer. it just stands out to much...

i had a look again in kickpim sources, and the gradient stuff isn't in qt itself, but in the kdelib in kpixmapeffect
i don't find the doc about this class in kde api reference but i's well documented...maybe i just didn't search the right section of the doc |
