I am asking this as a gentoo user and don\'t know anything about the internals of amarok, so if the question is stupid just delete the post.
Is the kdemultimedia dependency an integral part of amarok or would it be possible to get rid of it? |

amaroK does not depend on kdemultimedia at all. Refer to README for a list of dependencies.

Thats good news! Then it is strange that the Gentoo ebuild lists kdemultimedia as a dependency for amarok, I will look into this further.
If this dependency can be eliminated I am certain that even more people will use this great media player on Gentoo, namely those that don\'t use kde as a DE but already have kdelibs and qt installed for k3b. Bye, Valentin. |

One more question. Doesn\'t the konqueror sidebar plugin introduced in beta2 require kdebase?
If so, is it optional or can it be made so? Thanks, Valentin. |

it is optional and will only be installed and compiled if the konqueror-dev headers were found.

How and where is the check for the konqueror-dev headers actually done?
Bye, Valentin. |

Not at all This was a bug in 1.2-beta2. It\'s fixed in CVS HEAD. Now, the Sidebar is only built when kdebase is installed.
