Just thought i\'d mention libgpod, it\'s the result of the gtkpod people seperating the gtkpod front and backend. Was wondering if it\'d be possible to implememnt this in amaro as a replacement to the current ipod implementation. that way we\'d get ipod support for free and updates to the functionality for free (when new ipods released etc).

Yes, this is something really worth thinking about. The media browser will see even more work in 1.4, and it would be nice to have more robust iPod support.

This abstraction back to the lib would be nice, because we could write generic classes that access libgpod, or the one for the creative devices.. or any of the others out there, instead of thhe current way.

Yes this is something really worth checking, why recreate the wheel, we have ateam who concentrate really hard on just making ipod\'s working... and we hav the best developpers working on an awesome media player that want to access the ipod, so why not collaborate?

we just got a very nice patch from a mr. Martin Aumueller adding support for libgpod.
you\'ll need: libgpod cvs amarok svn patch: http://pwsp.net/~lfranchi/libgpod-corrected.diff apply patch from multimedia/amarok directory, patch -p0 < patch don\'t come crying though if it does weird stuff, just an idea.
