custom lyrics

Sat Sep 24, 2005 5:33 pm
About a week or two I\'m toying around with idea of custom lyrics for amaroK. So far I have managed to write some perl scripts to fetch lyrics for currently playing track.

Now I\'m trying to put those lyrics in amaroKs lyrics panel. I found setLyricsByPath DCOP call, which looks like is working.

tested it with:
[code:1]
dcop amarok player setLyricsByPath \"`dcop amarok player path`\" \"aaaaaaaaaaargh\" && dcop amarok player lyrics[/code:1]

Question is -> How do I refresh lyrics panel in amaroK to show my lyrics? Now on refresh button amaroK just fetches lyrics again from default web site.

First, lyrics are stored as html, look at the output of lyrics dcop for a track that already has lyrics for formatting example.

Second, hitting refresh makes amarok refetch from the internet, thus your problem. Try restarting the track instead.

Thnx, looks like it works (althought is not exactly that I need).

About HTML in lyrics - I knew it, but IMHO it wasn\'t important for example :)

I guess setLyricsByPath should check if what is being displayed currently in the lyrics tab is what is being set, and to change the contents of the tab accordingly.
