jesus fscking christ!

yes, i have been idle for a while (you know me as a regular here, and an amaroK fan as well)

well, to make a long story short: as i have been lazy recently, i emerged amaroK from portage, and it was crashing all and all over using arts! i could play 3-4 songs, that was it.
hmm.. i thought, this is pretty unlike to amaroK, specially for a \"release\" (1.3.2 that is).

so i checked xine and gstreamer - same scenario!
no, eh? this is not markey and crew!

hmm.. maybe my KDE 3.5 beta1? i checked using my wifes system (kde 3.4.stable) - same there!!! plays 3-4 tracks, and crash :-(

well, did and SVN checkout just right now, and voila! no crashes whatsoever on KDE 3.4 and 3.5beta1.

so wtf is going on there??
i am pretty much disappointed with this!

i am back in the ring using the SVN versions and reporting one or the other bug (if i find one, none yet ).

now lower my karma, morons! the new nickleback is out, and i play it *LOUD*

have a nice weekend, doodes and doodettes ;)

No, he isn\'t.

Which ebuild version did you use?

Also, you should probably report this politely at bugs.gentoo.org

Try a new emerge --sync and rebuild... if It doesn\'t work, take it to bugs.gentoo.org, its a problem somewhere besides here.

no i will not re-emerge this. i am an amarok SVN freak anyway. i just pointed out the problems, and will stick with SVN again (CVS in the past).

there have been far too many problems with amaroK and gentoo (unfortunately). you doodes figure this out for once and all.
cheers.

btw: to learn more you might use the search function on the gentoo forums. user hds, topic amarok.
i helped out more than once!

probably something to do with arts engine then...

amarok-1.3.2-r1 compiles and runs fine under gentoo here... kde-3.5-beta1, gcc-4.02 but using the xine engine instead.

My amaroK was working fine, but then today it **** out.

Turns out I had updated my alsa (xine was using it) and it wouldn\'t play some songs anymore.

one revdep-rebuild, and it works great again.
