I\'m working on a libvisual plugin that makes heavy use of the stereo data in audio->pcm and audio-> freq.
Unfortunately it looks like the data that amaroK feeds into libvisual has only mono information. Both the left channel and the right channel (audio->pcm[0] and audio->pcm[1]) have the same information (i.e. mixed down mono). I\'m pretty sure libvisual isn\'t the problem, because it works fine under xmms and bmp. Can someone fix this, or point me to somwhere in the amaroK code where I could fix it myself? Thanks, Matt. |

err I guess this should go under bug reports... didn\'t see that forum for some reason.
I\'ll cross post this there. |

Are you using gstreamer or xine? Switching may or may not make a difference.

just to follow up on this, I ended up looking at the amaroK code, and it looks like the pcm data socket was not being used properly. Bytes 0-256 appear to contain left channel data, and 256-512 right channel.
I\'m going to try and submit a patch (attached to my bug report at http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118765). Hopefully it will get accepted. My first OSS project contribution... yay! |
