Learning here, so please bear with me!

I'd like to build Amarok without GCC's Stack Smashing option.  I'm attempting to test the theory this is causing the Collection scan errors I've been seeing.  My question: how do I do it?  The only documentation I can find says to use the -fno-stack-protector flag, but I can't figure out where to use it!

Any help is greatly appreciated.
