Just downloaded amarok-1.4.5.tar.bz2 and installed it on my Qt3.5.5 based AMD64 but when I trying to run streams from lastfm, it crashes with the following snippet of the dump ...
==== kdBacktrace() ================ [ 0: /usr/lib/libkdecore.so.4(_Z11kdBacktracei+0x49) [0x2b9e6ca3db79] 1: /usr/lib/libkdecore.so.4(_Z11kdBacktracev+0xe) [0x2b9e6ca3de0e] 2: amarokapp(_ZN6Amarok5Crash12crashHandlerEi+0xb03) [0x405713] 3: /lib/libc.so.6 [0x2b9e701d6510] 4: /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN7QShared5derefEv+0xc) [0x2b9e6d6a7b9c] 5: /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN7QString5derefEv+0x27) [0x2b9e6da7b871] 6: /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN7QStringaSERKS_+0x28) [0x2b9e6da7c608] 7: /usr/lib/libamarok.so.0(_ZN6LastFm10WebService9handshakeERK7QStringS3_+0x889) [0x2b9e6a99aac9] 8: /usr/lib/libamarok.so.0(_ZN6LastFm10Controller11getNewProxyE7QString+0x225) [0x2b9e6a99bf95] ... Edit: the original comparison was wrong. This crash happens once in a while. Also heard the same in the IRC so thought I am not alone. Will get more debug info when i get to my PC but from the backtrace it seemed there was some problem with Strings inside handshake routine. -cyrus007

No, it does not require a Qt update. You could provide us with a better backtrace by configuring Amarok with --enable-debug=full.
