Hi. I want to get some data from Amarok from another application. I was looking into DCOP, but couldn't really get it to work with plain C. Now, that doesn't mean that it can't be done. ;-) Now I've used the "dcop amarok player ..." command...

Has anyone done this? Should/Can I use something else? Any tips?

Best regards

/ Martin

I am no expert on this, but my guess would be this:
- you can access the amarok database with SQL
- you can use dcop by forking a process and reading in the output.
- Look into the dcop library if it does the interfacing for you (not sure if it does, but give it a try)

It's his last part I wanna try. My tries have been less than successful - only resulting in lot's of errors. I would like to see some example.

There is a DCOP c-library. Called dcopc or somesuch.
