There are open source upnp servers that you could use to share your music with other computer.

There's a google summer of code project that is currently implementing a upnp client for Amarok.

He wants Amarok to be more than just a desktop music player. He wants Amarok to be a full fledged "media center" that could live on a settop box.

You should look into MythTV, this is more along the lines of what you're looking for.

Amarok is comparable to Windows Media player, while MythTV is comparable to Windows Media Center.
