A few requests, for Amarok 3.0 just some ideas to float around in peoples heads for now.
1). Separate back end from front end (that way people could develop the front ends independently to fit the chosen window manager) 2). Last. FM data fetching to make the random music more intuitive. Feel free to add to my list and ridicule any that are on here now or that may get added. |

What do you mean with backend? Amarok uses a backend for playing media files, e.g. libxine for Amarok 1 and phonon for Amarok2. And the data is already stored in a database, you can edit or read it with any other app. |

I mean like mplayer and all of its front ends there could even be an official one for those who prefer kde. while those who prefer gnome could use a different one.

Also how about a plugin that will be able to rename your files in a smart fashion if their is enough data in the ID3 tags so sorting music out the manual way is easier and deleting duplicates is easier to.

now one can record a stream to a file in .wav but this fills up the harddisk quickly. So a high quality MP3 and/or OGG would be great.

3.0? Isn't it a bit early for thinking of that?
I kinda have the expectation there will be at least a few 2.x.x versions to polish existing functionality, re-implement some script and feature equivalents for things people miss from 1.4.x, and add some cool new scripts and features, before any thought is ever given to the kind of changes that would call for bumping the version to 3.x.
