I'm writing a remote interface for amarok 2 (actually a rewrite for my older app http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.ph ... tent=52641)
I'm using the MPRIS interface over DBus to get the artis, title etc. Unfortunately the Amarok implementation is of MPRIS seems to be incomplete:

specifies that "arturl" should be part of the metadata (i.e. the CD-cover).

Is there any chance of metadata["arturl"] impementation to make it into stable?

I've filed a bug report (#173046).

However the MPRIS interface is very limiting and practicaly unusable if you want to build a feature rich frontend. (Although the idea behind it is very nice).

I guess I'll have to write my self a query service as a amarok script which will then connect to my external frontend.

Keep in mind whilst we hope to provide a complete mpris implementation, there is nothing stopping us from including our own dbus methods through org.kde.amarok (instead of org.mpris.amarok).

Ask (on bugs.kde.org) and you shall receive (if reasonable).
