Right now I'm learning how to qrite the script I want to produce. I'll have some pseudocode up on my blog later discribing the idea. Right now my question is this.
Since my script will possibly be making calls to libgpod and libmtp I'm wondeirng if Amarok 2 is going to have API calls for media devices themselves. Will there be a Amarok.mediaDevice section in the scripting API? If so what are the planned calls? If not, why not? Also, since I'm trying to develop an Amarok 2 video transcoder to go along with media devices I'm wondering if video specific tag information will be, or can be added. Like being able to specify if smoething should fall under the Movies or Tv Show menu. Music Video versus strait songs. GTKPod is ok, but it leaves much to be desired as it relates to tagging information and automatially guessing tags. Are these things doable in Amarok now, and if not are they something that needs to be scripted? Another question from my point of view which I'm curious about. With phonon pretty much the backend doesn't matter as everything cals phonon which then translates it to the backend involved like libxine, gstreamer, directx, whatever. If someone say wanted to make a call to a transcoder what would one call from phonon in script? Just a few questions I thought I'd pose to the greater community. EDIT: Just to keep from copy/pasting everything I just wrote in my blog I thought I would post a link here.
