I'm sure that there are good reasons why these builds do not use the system-wide KDE fonts for the lyrics applet.
I'm wondering where one might change the font dynamically, although I believe that when asked, someone in either #amarok or #kde-users told me that this is not possible at runtime. Can anyone point me to the spot in the source where this font is either defined or left to the courier-looking default that it apparently uses? |

This depends on your system fonts, try changing your fonts in the system settings -> Appearance, and use for example Liberation, DejaVu or the Free font for all the system.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Amarok (2.x) uses the system fonts. I use candara and that's the font also used in the applet.
