First of all, the obligatory disclaimer: Yes, I know Amarok 1.4 is no longer maintained, but I still use it, and figured this might be helpful for anyone else who still does.
After reinstalling my laptop the other day, I noticed the cover fetcher had stopped working. I couldn't find a patch on Google, so I assumed it must have been recent. I noticed the current git branch now uses last.fm rather than Amazon to fetch covers, so I more or less backported the changes to my copy of 1.4.10. Anyway, the patch: amarok-1.4.10.coverfetcher.diff. Note: This makes some pretty extensive changes to the code, including removing all Amazon-specific functions. It appears to be stable on my machine, but I am not intimately familiar with Amarok's source, so there may be bugs. Hope this helps any other 1.4 users out there EDIT: The original link went down, so the patch has a new permanent home on SourceForge (including links to a few binary packages).

So what do I do with this .diff file? Place it somewhere or BASH it?
Thanks. |

You need to manually download and patch, then compile and install Amarok 1.x using the patched sources.

Hi There,
I'd love to go on using Amarok 1.4, since it works perfectly with my iPod Classic 120GB. Would it be possible, that someone applies the patch to the source and give us a link to the patched source, or even better a .deb file? Would be really happy if someone could help us out here Using the Coverfetcher Script downloadable as an Amarok script isn't any fun Thanks |
