Always 'appy to 'elp, but where can I download that eagerly awaited Amarok version 2.3-beta? Looks nice on the videoclip, but without installing it I can't find any bugs...

There is a big download button on the front page or here" http://amarok.kde.org/en/releases/2.3/beta/1

Yep. Couldn't miss that. But that leads to the Download page, which has a wealth of links to distro specific packages, as well as to the tarball, but none of these has version 2.3 beta. (openSUSE: v2.2.1; tarball: v2.2.2.90) And... that tarball did not install on my system anyway (complaining about a missing taglib dependency, which definitely is present). Meanwhile I keep using the openSUSE package (from KDE:Backports repository), but that misses out on the new features promised with v2.3.

I'm running amarok-2.2.2.60svn20100203-3.5.x86_64 from the openSuse 11.2 playground repo and it appears to have some of the 2.3beta stuff (not sure what's not there)
This repo http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... .2/x86_64/ has amarok-2.2.2.90svn20100214-1.1.x86_64.rpm which I'd guess is the the most current if you're running a backports repo then you'd be using an older vervsion of kde4? |

Aha. I'm running the openSUSE default KDE, which is v4.3, and I don't have the playground repositories with SVN packages added. It's my working (32-bit) machine, see, and I rather keep on the safe(r) side. I guess I'll have to wait until Amarok v2.3 has become official before I can use the equalizer again.
marcel and google01103, thanks for your helpful comments!

And then I found the latest Amarok package available for my system at:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/UNSTABLE:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.2/i586/ -- but... Package Manager suggested to perform 372 changes if I would like to install it. So I did not. But I did find my way to a huge pile of openSUSE repositories now.

it's not an Amarok thing - Suse is making 4.3.5 an online update not an optional one because of all the bug fixes

Thanks for this info. After that KDE update I'll give Amarok 2.2.2.90 another try. I wasn't blaming anyone BTW. After all, openSUSE exists to try out new stuff, so surprises may surprise us.
