eh IMO that ^^ would be a little overkill, something more like what lil_rich suggested would be cool i think.

What do the kwin developers think of the coverflow issues? kwin still has a coverflow clone.
I like the record store idea, although I would prefer it not show just one album at a time.

I don't think the CoverFlow patent applies to the Windows changing effect in KWin, the patent is restricted to Music Cover flipping. Read again. Also, before taking any decision, reading the patent thorougly and taking legal advice would be better anyway.
As far as Amarok is concerned, we would have indeed violated the patent if we had published the CoverBling applet as it is, since what we did is covered by both the patent and copyright. But removing any effects from KWin (which is an effect available in Compiz since several years, BTW, hence prior art) is a bit a shot in the dark.

FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

or then again maybe some other than Apple owns the patents http://news.cnet.com/8301-13860_3-20018 ... 7-1_3-0-20 |

Well, this patent story is quite ridiculous : I'm seeing cover-flows everywhere, from Phones to TV (in the news for instance), softwares (most media centers).
I do understand the devs reluctancy though |
