Hi !
It is the first time I come here, so I will introduce myself quickly I am a French engineering student, in electronics and computer sciences. I am currently doing my final project, which is a 6-month work placement. My job is to design a embedded audio player, like a living room player. The purpose of this player is to read as many audio formats on as many physical devices as possible. The system is ruled by a master micro-controller which receives the command instructions, sends them to the appropriated elements of the system, receives feedback information for them and then makes the display (typically, on a small TFT/LCD screen). One main part of th application is to read audio files (stored on USB mass storage or SC Cards) and I am searching if this part of the system could be realized with an embedded PC board running Linux. As it is just a "look if possible" research, I have not chosen neither a board nor a Linux OS. On this board, I could install an audio player to do the job. I used Amarok in the past, when I tried Linux at home, and it is really a good player! (since now it is available for Windows, I will soon have it again ! ) My problem is simple : is it possible to create an interface between a micro-controller and Amarok ? The physical link can be USB or RS232/UART. Reading the Amarok support, I found out the DCOP and the scripts. I told myself that it could be possible to do an intermediate software, acting like an Amarok's script so as to read the messages coming on the port (USB or serial), translate them to DCOP commands and send them to Amarok. I am still wondering about some points, particularly on how-to send back information so that the micro-controller can display a decent GUI. - how to select a file to add it to the playlist ? How can I browse my USB hard drive to select the file I want ? I was thinking about making LS commands to have the list of files and CD commands to navigate, no ? - once I have the file address, I can add it via the appropriate DCOP function right ? - I have not found a function that returns the complete current playlist, in text or XML format, in order to allow the user to navigate it in the GUI. Is there a way to do it ? And more generally, does this seem possible or am I totally wrong ? I hope I have made myself clear, it is not so easy in English... Thank you very much for your time and your answers and your comments !! |

Did you read the comment I made in your French post? It would have spared you some typing...
Please see the hints I gave you there
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

I have read it Mamarock, don't worry. Posting it in French and in English was a way to improve the probability to have an answer. You can see that both messages were posted more or less at the same time. Nevertheless, you seem to be the only one interested in my problem No need for you to answer here, discussing it in the French part is easier for me.
Does any body else have an opinion on the subject ? |
