Having the possibility to store the data in a MySQL database is great if you run amarok on several computer.
But:
  • Accessing to the context menu, the list of podcast is very slow. with a 64kb connection to a MySQL server, it can take up to 5 minutes until the context menu appears.
  • When amarok read data from the MySQL database, the KDE task bar is blocked. The complete desktop does not react during minutes.
  • When the link with the MySQL database is cut and comes again after 5 minutes. Amarok write a lot of duplicate entries into the MySQL database.

Could you please be more explicit on the versions you are using for Amarok, MySQLand KDE, as well as your distribution? Also where exactly is the database located and how is this accessed?

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

For Plasma being blocked - are you using the Now Playing applet, or any other applet which works with Amarok?
