Hi,

I am having a VPN spanned across my home, parents, and work network. At home there is a QNAP NAS device that I can easily connect to from all locations.
Originally I wanted to stream across the VPN with UPNP but I found it to hard to configure the Fritz.Boxes to allow broadcasting across the tunnel.

I then discovered DAAP and as it is HTTP based it seamlessly works across the VPN tunnel. At least as long as I am using DAAP clients thet let me configure an IP or hostname like the Firefly Client or Music Pump Player on Android,

Sadly, Amarok wants to autodiscover the DAAP server which generally is a nice thing but does not work in all scenarios. So I beg for a configuration option.
Thanks.

Amarok doesn't autodiscover it, it relies on your system to find the DAAP share, namelySolid which is the underliying KDE hardware stack. Once the system has found the DAAP share and you have enabled the protocol in Amarok it should just show up as a colletion.

Warning, though: DAAP is a very proprietary protocol so don't expect miracles when using Apple technology in Linux. Also currently the password protected DAAP shares can't be used with Amarok, see also https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=274950

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...
