This functionality may already exist, but I can't find a way of doing the following.
I have ripped my CD's and a friend's CD collection into two different folders, let's call them $HOME/User1/Music and $HOME/User2/Music I'd like two create two playlists based on the above locations. Thanks |

You can only create playlists with tracks in your collection, how about adding those locations to the collection? Then you can browse in the file browser directly to said location, select the files, move them to the play queue and save the created playlist.

FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Hi,
Unless i'm missing something, that's pretty much what I'm trying to do. The folder structure us similar to this: /home/Music/OurMusic /home/Music/FriendsMusic The collection I've added to amarok contains both. I can't see a way of creating a playlist with the selection criteria of /home/Music/OurMusic and another with /home/Music/FriendsMusic Thanks, Leo |

from the Files browser (one step up from the collection, see also https://userbase.kde.org/Amarok/Manual/ ... rces#Files), go to the location, select all the files you want to have in the playlist and put them in the playlist pane, then go to the bottom right, long click on the disk icon (see also https://userbase.kde.org/Amarok/Manual/ ... _Functions) and select the location you want to save the playlist to, ev. rename the playlist (default name is date and time), done.

Brilliant. Thanks for your help.
Now I need to figure out how to randomize each playlist. Should I raise this as another question? Leo |

How about exploring the handbook and test the features first? The answer to your question is in there
