Amarok is very very good stuff. We find on it some things we can\'t find in other programs.
To improve it I think developpers could make the same thing as in ITunes. A tick box in front of the song displayed in the playlist. It would allow us to have the whole collection displayed but to select which song we never want to hear. Thanks again to the team. |

You can do this by CTRL+right click on each songs you want to be played as next

I like this idea a lot. Many CDs in my collection have intros, skits, and other things I don\'t really want to hear on a regular basis but would still like to keep in my collection. It would be nice to be able to \"uncheck\" these songs to prevent them from playing under circumstances such as song suggestions or random play. Likewise, they should be played when explicitly selected (double-click, for instance).
I think that the iTunes implementation is not perfect, of course, and could be improved upon here. One idea would be to play the unchecked songs if the entire album is being played, although this might me more difficult to implement than its worth. Thanks for the great progam guys! |

Well, if you use CVS, you could try make a smart playlist which exclude this files. Then select that smart playlist in "Party mode".

This would work, but don\'t you think that is a little bit cumbersome to write an \"exclude\" rule for all of the tracks you don\'t like? The smart playlists don\'t seem designed to handle this aspect, besides, it would be incredibly difficult to change the songs you don\'t want to hear, especially compared to the ease of clicking a checkbox.
By integrating it into the actual playlist window rather than a smart playlist the functionality can be extended to all aspects of playing rather than just party mode. |

Yes, smart playlist wouldn\'t really solve your problem. It would be solved by implementing the kimdaba-gmail-like arbitrary labels for files. You could have a \'suck\' label, and apply it to songs. Then the smart playlist could exclude that label.

Would it be difficult to store this \'suck\' flag in the database, and have the control be a checkbox in the playlist? Then, as you said, the user can make a rule in a smart playlist to not play these songs.
Or even better, in the configuration the user can have the option to \"Use check-box enabler\" then next to that a Configure button, where the user can chose where these settings should apply (smart-playlists, song suggestions, random play, CD play, etc). I don\'t think this extra option will add significantly more clutter in the config menu and it would add a lot more functionality. |
