(1) Write statistics to disk periodically so you don\'t lose everything if there is a crash. Maybe you\'re doing this already, in which case maybe more frequently? Or customisable?
(2) Allow the smart playlist to do things like Entire Collection EXCEPT this artist and this artist -- or allow check marks in the collection browser. (3) Show more hits from Musicbrainz? When you have Best hits albums for example, I like to have them tagged as \"the Best of\" instead of the individual album, but musicbrainz will often suggest the individual album, and no way to fix this. I know Juk is the recommended tagger, but juk has its own problems -- it\'s slow as ****, and doesn\'t know about question marks, and other issues. I\'d like to throw my vote in with the others who would appreciate amarok having (a) multiple files tagging at a time (b) file renaming. Of course, when the Picard tagger arrives, this will become its job. (4) I could post screenshots of this, but the analyser doesn\'t work with my Baghira styled KDE. http://argonath.lbl.gov/~venky/amarok.jpg (5) A \"Most recent albums\" on the Home tab under Context browser. (6) The preliminary Ipod interface (from CVS): it would be awesome if this will just copy to any mounted device -- I have an Iriver HDD player, and this would be perfect for it. Oh, and if the audioscrobbler plugin will read tracks played info from the player [although this would probably be difficult, since it\'s player specific] and submit them... (7) When I click on a stream, the stream CLEARS the playlist and adds itself, which is bad behavior in my opinion -- it should either append to it and start playing, or start up a new tab, or save the playlist as Previous playlist or something and then clear it. I also want to thank you guys for making such a great player!!! Post edited by: venky, at: 2004/12/25 06:35 |

Well, if you use mysql (1) is already taken care of.

I don\'t think so -- I have CVS as of a couple days ago, (and mysql enabled) and every time amarok or X crashes on me [bloody xcompmgr], everything [last played song, last used engine, last playlist contents, statistics for songs played since last start] gets lost. Is there a setting I need to change? There certainly isn\'t one in the settings dialog. Besides, as you can see, I\'m not talking about statistics alone. So it isn\'t an sqlite specific thing.

if amaroK crashes it usualy restores the settings it had on the last succesful close. ( Including the Playlist ( might be fixed already ) )

I understand, but if you use mysql the statistics won\'t be lost.

That is not true. I use mysql and I have CVS as of less than a week. Statistics are lost. If this is a feature, then it isn\'t working for me. Here\'s how I\'m saying statistics are lost: I usually have a long playlist. I start up amarok, it starts playing at say, song 50. Plays until song 60. Now if I\'ve never played songs 50 through 60, they will have empty score columns, and as they play, their score columns will get values. And then there is some sort of crash, and I start up amarok again. Play will start at song 50, and songs50-60 will have empty score columns. This is not a chance occurence --happens everytime for me.

infact the scores are _not_ lost. they just dont appear updated in the playlist until you re-add or play the song. otherwise the scores will be read from the playlist xml instead of the database.
call it a bug, but a minor one, please |
