what about xine engine?
and btw theres a slight^^ difference between alsa, oss and gstreamer, arts etc

Huh, all of the supported engines gstreamer, arts, xine, MMS, etc does use ALSA or OSS on Linux. It is the engine that actually plays the music. The sound system choice is set in the engine.
