Ive recently switched to amaroK from XMMS, entirely due to the global shortcut feature. I used Winamp at work and found the shortcuts to be a must-have feature.
One nice addition would be to have shortcuts for rewinding/fast forwarding the current track. Its the one thing I feel is missing from amaroK. |

Are these included? Im currently using an older version (1.0cvs) and cant upgrade without updating KDE entirely (SuSE 9.2 Pro).
If its in amaroK 1.2, I might have a go at upgrading. |

Umm... you can. I\'m using a 9.2 here too... Get the sources, build them and afterwards, install amaroK with checkinstall. This creates a rpm which you can then install with "rpm --freshen [amaroK rpm-file]". Run SuSEconfig afterwards and there you go. At least that is how I do it... |

shuffle and repeat in global would be nice:

Kcontrol > Preferences > Regional & access. > KHotKeys
create a generic event, give it a hotkey and these dcop calls: shuffle (playlist) : dcop amarok playlist shufflePlaylist shuffle off (mode) : dcop amarok player enableRandomMode 0 shuffle on (mode) : dcop amarok player enableRandomMode 1 repeat on/off: same thing as above, just ending with enableRepeatPlaylist you can write a shellscript that does the switch between 0 and 1 to use this on one key, just run that script instead of the dcop call (might be considered as a workaround, but I think KHotKeys is a -lot- better than global shortcuts (mouse gestures ^^)) Post edited by: Alanceil, at: 2005/04/17 20:42 |

A very good advice, also for people like me without Windows keys.

Yep, I\'ve had \"random mode on and go to next song,\" \"stop,\" and \"random mode off\" bound to mouse gestures since back when I was using XMMS. When I switched I just had to edit some scripts and I can still use the same ingrained mouse gestures to control my music. KHotKeys is AWESOME.
Unfortunately, a mouse gesture I had with xmms -- \"start playing my favorite webradio\" -- won\'t work with amaroK until \"dcop amarok playlist playMedia\" starts working with streams. |

It already does work with streams in CVS.

Is this a 1.2.4 sort of CVS or a 1.3 sort of CVS?
