Not sure if this is the correct place to post this. Please correct me if I have mis-posted.
The new QToolBox BrowserBar looks, IMHO, very ugly. The original KMultiTabBar, while it did have its own problems, looked quite nice; and once you get used to what the icons mean, not having text on the buttons when they are closed isn\'t too much of a problem. What does everyone else think? (The new browser bar was in the svn version from the 22nd I think) |

We are currently researching the best solution for the tabs issue. Stay tuned and keep the feedback coming.

The ugly-ness isn\'t a real issue. We could make it look good with some work. But is the increased space usage justified? I guess thats the question. It would be cool to have something like QToolBox (it would make it much easier for new users I think) that magically didn\'t use so much space. :silly:

Just checked out the current KJanusBar solution that is currently in svn. Personally, I think that if the bit the BrowserBar was showing (i.e. the Context Browser or the Collection Browser) could be made to float like it use to with the KMultiTabBar, it would look nice, and still be usable by new users. It could have one of those \'sticky\' icon things to make it stay showing if the user wanted it to.

I don\'t think the extra use of space is justified. You don\'t really need text I could see if there was like 20 things but with 5 you can find the one you want pretty quick even if you\'re a new user. I don\'t know though I don\'t even have Icons with text on my desktop just extra panels with buttons on them.

They have gone back to the KMultiTabBar, now, in SVN; but with the text always showing on the tabs in the browserbar. It looks clean and sexy. With the text labels showing, it\'s also easier for new users to get to grips with. Could a setting be added to allow the user to change wether the tabs always show the text label? This would mean experienced amaroKers could turn off the text labels and save space while new users could use the labels to get to grips with the interface.
Just my 2pence worth - I am a huge fan of the KMultiTabBar with its style set to VSNET. |

IMHO it definitely wastes too much space. I even have 1280x1024 resolution. Though I\'d still prefer to return to the old browser bar width as I cannot arrange context browser and playlist in a way now that shows me all the information i want with no columns to small etc.
I\'d definitely think that a browser bar of this width is no solution at all. best regards Christoph |
