Hi. I use Amarok for live DJ-ing, and I was wondering if it would be possible to create a \"DJ\" mode in which you could have 2 playlists, and crossfade either manually or automatically between the two playlists.
Suggestion: A fader that allows you to crossfade between the two songs at the top of the queue on each playlist, and if you don\'t manually switch between the songs by the time the song on playlist A ends, it automatically crossfades to the song at the top of playlist B. Real time effects would be cool too, but not absolutely necessary because most DJ\'s would have their own effects externally. Any thoughts on this? n8 |

Its a bit outside of the scope of amaroK to have advanced DJ tools like that.

You can kind of achieve the same thing by queueing and/or moving tracks around in the playlist, with crossfade on...
As eean said, this isn\'t really what amaroK is designed for. There are other apps (atleast for Windoze, if you know about an advanced DJ/shoutcast app for Linux, tell me.) that are designed for DJ-ing and has more advanced features like this. Post edited by: Firetech, at: 2005/10/02 17:19

Maybe is it out of Amarok project, but I agree, there are no DJ program for Linux, it\'s a shame.
I think the only thing to do for Amarok \'for DJ\' would be to be able to launch 2 players on seperate channel, and some effects like loop and sampling. |

huh, theres at least a dozen. try TerminatorX first since its already in most distributions worth a salt..GDAM as well..or Sooperlooper |

Hi.
It\'s out of the scope a bit, I agree, but that doesn\'t meen it wouldn\'t be cool. I\'ve tried some of the other DJ apps, but most of them are designed to be 1 track vs 1 track, not playlist vs playlist.... Amarok\'s killer interface seems to lend itself well to this. I currently use it by selecting songs in the playlist, and letting Amarok automatically fade between them - I just think it would be cool to be able to x-fade manually. n8 |
