I think the album cover display feature is a great one. However, many of my tracks don\'t have anything in the album tag, so no cover is displayed. I suspect that many people have many files without Album tags.

I think it would be better if when a track had no entry or match in the ID3 Album tag, amarok would fall back to another database of covers based on the Artist tag.

The cover manager could be modified to maintain \'covers\' (images) based on artist as well as album.

really, if you don\'t have your stuff tagged properly, most of the features amarok provides won\'t work anymore.

But if your Album is something like \"CMJ music sampler 1989- super gold hits\", which has songs by \"famous 80\'s band 1\" and \"famous 80\'s band 2\", would it not make sense for amarok to display pictures of the band rather than a non-descript album cover?

And in cases where a track is not from an album and hence should have no album tag?

And, what about \"properly tagged\" files that have albums tags, but not ones that have (yet) been assigned an image? Or where the album tag is changed and no longer points to a useful entry in the cover manager database?

The point is, \'album covers\' as amarok uses them are not really album covers, but the image that gets shown when a given track plays. My sugestion is to make amarok smarter in the way it handles this, so its more likely to show the user a useful picture than a blank or useless one.

Yea, I have some of my compliation CDs setup with a different album covers for each track. You can do that already.

first of all: i beg forgiveness for my poor english. i\'ll try to express myself.

i really love this album-cover feature in amarok. but i think i have some suggestions to make it even more likeable:

- it should be possible to tag a whole album as \'complete\' or something and to have list of those complete albums (displayed with the cover-pics). that\'s because it kinda bugs me that you can only view such a list of albums when the interprets song is active. sure you can\'t make such a list because almost every single song has an album-tag attached to it, which would make such a feature intricate. that\'s why i suggested that you should be able to mark an album as complete.

- maybe you could also have an entry if the backside of a cover is present. it must not be displayed, just a little sign which indicates that it is actually there. so i\'d know which album i could burn and print out


but you\'re doing very very good work here: amarok is one of the best players i ever downloaded to my harddisk

Maybe I\'m missing something but would it be possible to display album covers in the collection bowser? I would love for the collection browser to be as sexy as the context browser.

I would like to be able to pull from my own images for album covers. For example, one album cover that I cannot find through amaroK\'s search is the cover for RTZ\'s debut album (it was discontinued). In such a case, I would like to be able to use cover art that I am able to find on my own.

Perhaps this is just another case of RTFM for me (reference my re-learned lesson from \"Jumping to the next song\" thread in Help: http://amarok.kde.org/component/option, ... itstart,6/ ).

At any rate, I don\'t see an option for that at this time. And, I think that would be useful.

open up the cover manager, and right click on your album. Click on the \'set custom cover\' entry.
