I\'m not sure if this has already been suggested, although I couldn\'t find anything similar with a quick search.. Anyway:
Since amaroK saves the collection in a database, I fhink it would only make sense to have playlists point to that database instead of the filesystem. This way, if you moved songs aroud the filesystem or renamed the files, playlists would still be completely usable after a rescan of the collection. Of course this would make it a little bit difficult to use the same pleylists in other players, but who uses anything besides amaroK anyway?!? |

Except files in the database are indexed by filename.

Yes.. Well.. I thought that might be the case. And I understand why it is convenient that way... Still, wouldn\'t it be relatively easy to add some other form of unique ID, either just a number or some sort of quick hash of the song contents (not the entire file). The latter would be somewhat slower ofcourse, but would provide more accurate matching when files are moved around.
This entire issue doesn\'t really bother me all that much.. It\'s just a bit tedious to recreate playlists of several hundred songs after renaming files and/or directories. Would be a nice feature though. |

I agree it would be, getting an \"unique id\" for music would be most useful.
